Guida a IDQ Biker Maps
1. Cos'è e come funziona
Occupa diversi GB: meglio col Wi-Fi.
6. Opzioni del percorso
Opzioni
7. Navigare
Avvia, Termina
- ▶ Avvia: navigazione vera col GPS.
- Termina: ferma la navigazione.
Cosa vedi mentre navighi
- Velocità in basso a destra (km/h).
| Passaggi a livello | OpenStreetMap |
| Dossi (solo pillola; la voce parla solo se vai oltre i 50 km/h) | OpenStreetMap |
| Controlli mobili segnalati (validi 2 ore) | Altri utenti, serve internet |
| Incidenti (2 ore), traffico (1 ora), strade chiuse (12 ore), pericoli (4 ore) | Altri utenti, serve internet |
Li trovi in Menu › Itinerari e tracce › Itinerari salvati.
14. Condividere e importare
Condividere
Su itinerari e tracce, Condividi chiede cosa mandare:
- Testo – nome, chilometri e durata; destinazione con indirizzo completo e coordinate scritte; link a Google Maps (itinerari) o a OpenStreetMap (tracce).
16. Impostazioni
- Voce delle indicazioni – accesa/spenta.
- Lingua e voce – scegli italiano, inglese, francese, tedesco o spagnolo.
Cerca servizi e negozi
Mappa in 2D o 3D
Come funziona
28. Piccole cose in sella
Dal menu Segnala puoi segnalare agli altri motociclisti olio (valido 6 ore), ghiaia o sabbia (6 ore), ghiaccio (8 ore) e nebbia fitta (3 ore).
Puoi spegnere tutto in Funzioni in sella.
34. Prova gratuita e sblocco
IDQ Biker Maps guide
All the features of the app, explained step by step.
1. What it is and how it works
IDQ Biker Maps is a navigation app for Android that uses the internet when it is there and also works without it. With a connection the map, address search and routes come from our server, always up to date and with nothing to download. If the connection drops, it switches by itself to the downloaded maps on the phone (OpenStreetMap, downloaded just once, preferably on Wi-Fi): in that case the phone calculates the routes. With no connection and no downloaded maps the app cannot show the map. The voice guidance (and the whole app) speaks your language: Italian, English, French, German or Spanish, with a male or female voice.
Internet is needed for: online map, search and routes; downloading and updating the maps; sending and receiving reports from other users (mobile checks, accidents, traffic...); fuel prices; sharing. It also works without internet (with the maps downloaded): map, routes, voice, re-routing and the alerts from the downloaded data. In IDQ Biker Maps internet is also needed for: weather on your route, "Where do I ride today?", the bend map, the elevation profile, "Follow my trip" and the group ride. Still available without internet: SOS and Help button (they need phone signal for the SMS), black box, garage, range and reminders.
2. First steps
- Location permission: the first time you open the app it asks to use the GPS. Without it the map is visible but you cannot navigate. Choose "While using the app" or "Always": with "Always", navigation and recording continue even with the screen off.
- Notification permission: needed for the fixed notification during navigation, recording and map downloads.
- You can start right away: with internet the map, search and routes come from our server, with nothing to download.
- Download the maps (recommended): Menu › Offline maps › Manage maps. Choose Whole Italy: it contains the map, routes and address search and lets you use the app without a connection (tunnels, mountains). It takes several GB: better on Wi-Fi. Once downloaded, when the connection drops the app switches by itself to the downloaded maps.
3. The map
- Drag with one finger to move, pinch with two fingers to zoom, rotate two fingers to turn the map.
- Outside navigation the map follows you and, as soon as you move (above about 4 km/h), your speed appears at the bottom right: the same happens while you record a track. If you move the map with your finger the ◎ button appears: one tap and it returns to your position.
- The symbol on the map is your position: the motorcycle, which turns with your direction of travel.
- At the bottom there is the Menu button; next to it Start and Save appear when there is a route.
- Day and night: the map turns dark by itself between sunset and sunrise (it can be changed, see Settings).
- The screen can be used in portrait and landscape: navigation does not stop when you rotate the phone.
- At the bottom right there is always the credit "© OpenStreetMap contributors": it is a licence requirement.
4. Choosing the destination
With search
Type in the bar at the top: a city, a street, a place (e.g. "colosseo roma"), an address with house number (e.g. "viale ceccarini 106 riccione"). Results are sorted by relevance and then by distance from you: if you write "via", "viale", "corso"... or a house number, streets and addresses come first, otherwise names identical to what you typed come first (even far away, such as "stazione di Bologna"). Tap a result to calculate the route.
With your voice
Tap the microphone on the right of the search bar and say the address.
With a long press
Long-press a point on the map: it becomes the destination. Useful for places without an address (a car park, a path, a spot at sea).
As soon as the destination is chosen, the app calculates the route (usually in less than a second) and shows kilometres, duration and arrival time. The route is the green line.
5. Choosing another starting point
By default you start from your GPS position. To plan a distant route (for example from home while you are elsewhere): Menu › Route › Choose another starting point, then search or long-press on the map. The route is calculated from that point. To really drive with Start the start must go back to the GPS: Start: back to GPS.
6. Route options
Options
Menu › Route: Avoid tolls, Avoid motorways, Avoid ferries. They are check marks: tap to switch on or off, the route is recalculated immediately. "Avoid" means "prefer something else": if there is no alternative, the road may still be used.
Intermediate stops
With a destination chosen, Menu › Route › Intermediate stops lets you add as many stops as you like: tap Add stop, then search for a place or long-press on the map. In the list you can move stops with ▲ ▼ or remove them with ✕: the route is recalculated by itself. On the map the stops are numbered and, while driving, at each stop the voice says you have arrived and then continues to the next one. Stops are saved with the route.
7. Navigating
Start, Stop
- ▶ Start: real navigation with the GPS.
- Stop: stops the navigation.
What you see while navigating
- Blue card at the top: arrow of the next manoeuvre, distance, written instruction (e.g. "Enter the roundabout and take the 2nd exit") and at the bottom remaining kilometres, minutes and arrival time.
- The map rotates so that the top of the screen is always ahead of you. If you move it with your finger the ◎ (Recenter) button appears: tap it to return to your position at once; otherwise it returns by itself after 10 seconds.
- Speed at the bottom right (km/h). It turns red if you exceed the limit.
- Speed limit sign next to the speed (car, motorcycle and truck only). A sign with a solid border comes from OpenStreetMap; with a dashed border it is a limit presumed from the Highway Code (motorway 130, main extra-urban road 110, extra-urban road 90, built-up area 50) when the data is missing: it may be wrong, the real road sign always prevails.
- On the route you see limit signs at each change and the alert symbols (see section 9).
Voice
The app speaks a little before every manoeuvre ("In 300 meters turn right...") and again near the turn. With the voice off, the written directions and the beeps remain. Switch it on and off from Menu › Settings › Voice guidance. For each language the voice must be installed on the phone (Android Settings › Text-to-speech › Google › Install voice data).
Off route
If you take a wrong road the app notices after a few seconds, says "Recalculating route" and calculates another one from where you are. It works even without internet, if you have downloaded the maps.
Tunnels and weak GPS
If the GPS signal is missing (tunnels, buildings) the app keeps showing the estimated position on the route, at the previous speed, and writes "Weak GPS signal: position estimated". A single wrong GPS point does not trigger a recalculation; when the signal returns, the position realigns by itself.
Arrival
When you arrive "You have arrived!" appears and the navigation closes by itself.
Notification
During navigation there is a fixed notification: Android needs it so it does not stop the app when you switch to other screens or turn off the display.
8. Small window and screen on
- Screen always on: as long as the app is open the screen does not turn off, whatever time is set in the phone.
- Small window (Picture-in-Picture): if during navigation you press Home (or switch app), IDQ Biker Maps stays in a small window above the other apps and shows only the map with the route and your position. Tap it once: Android's controls appear, with the icon to enlarge it back to full screen, or the X to close it. The voice keeps guiding you.
9. Map alerts
Symbols appear on the map and along the route; when you get close, at the bottom right there is a pill with the nearest one (type, distance, limit) and the app announces it by voice, with a beep closer up. The alerts from the downloaded data also work without internet.
| Alert | Where it comes from |
|---|---|
| Fixed speed cameras (with the limit when known) | OpenStreetMap + user reports |
| Tutor (average speed): start, end, live average and alert if you exceed it | OpenStreetMap |
| Red light cameras | OpenStreetMap |
| ZTL gates (restricted traffic zones) | OpenStreetMap (the gates, not the whole zones) |
| Level crossings | OpenStreetMap |
| Speed bumps (pill only; the voice speaks only if you go above 50 km/h) | OpenStreetMap |
| Reported mobile checks (valid 2 hours) | Other users, internet needed |
| Accidents (2 hours), traffic (1 hour), road closures (12 hours), hazards (4 hours) | Other users, internet needed |
Closed roads: when other users report a closed road on your route, the app looks for a different road: it does so both when you choose the destination ("Route changed: avoids 1 reported road closures") and while driving, with an automatic recalculation and a voice warning. Internet is needed to receive the reports.
Switching alert types on and off
Menu › Map alerts: one check mark for each type. Off = no symbol and no alert. On foot and by bike the alerts meant for cars do not appear.
10. Reporting an alert
You help other drivers, and they help you. While driving, at the bottom right, there is the Report button: tap it and a panel with big buttons appears, easy to read and to tap. Checkpoint and Fixed speed camera are at the top, highlighted; below you find:
- Mobile check
- Accident
- Traffic
- Road blocked (temporary)
- Hazard on the road
- Tutor gate
- Speed camera that is no longer there
You can also report while stopped: Menu › Report. The report takes your position at that moment. If there is no internet it stays on the phone and is sent by itself as soon as the network is back.
Mobile checks, checkpoints, accidents, traffic, blocked roads and hazards are visible to others immediately, for a limited time. Fixed speed cameras, Tutor and "no longer there" are not shown to others: they are checked separately. Everything is anonymous (see Data and privacy).
"Is it still there?"
When you pass where another user reported something temporary (mobile check, checkpoint, accident, traffic, closed road, hazard), the app asks whether it is still there, with two big buttons Yes and No. The answers keep the map up to date: if more people say it is gone, the report disappears. For fixed speed cameras, Tutor and other fixed things, other users are not asked for confirmation: they are checked separately.
11. Search nearby
Menu › Search nearby: Petrol stations (with available fuels, LPG, methane...), Charging points (with connector type), Car parks, Service areas. The list is sorted by distance from you; tap an item to see it on the map and calculate the route. The first time the app asks to download a small file (about 15 MB); after that it works offline and updates itself on Wi-Fi.
12. Saved routes
A route is a destination (with start, stops and vehicle) that you want to find again.
- Choose the destination and wait for km and minutes to appear.
- Tap Save (or Menu › Route › Save this route) and give it a name.
You find them in Menu › Routes and tracks › Saved routes. By tapping a route you can:
- Open and navigate – brings it back on the map.
- Rename – changes the name (it also changes the name of the file you share).
- Edit – opens it on the map; change start, destination or vehicle and then Menu › Route › Update route.
- Share – see section 14.
- Delete – with confirmation.
Saved positions
To save an exact point without creating a route, tap the pin at the bottom right (or Menu › Routes and tracks › Save my position): the app suggests the address, if it knows it, or the date, and you can type the name you want straight away. A long press on the pin (or Saved positions) shows the list: from there you can go there, see it on the map, rename it, share it (address, coordinates and link) or delete it.
13. Recorded tracks
A track is the recording of where you have been, useful for hikes, motorcycle or bike rides. No start or destination needed.
- Record: Menu › Routes and tracks › Record a track. "● REC" appears on the Menu button with kilometres and time, and in the bottom bar there is the red button ■ Stop REC. Recording continues even with the screen off and the app in the background.
- Stop: tap ■ Stop REC, or Stop in the notification, or Menu › Stop recording. The track saves itself.
- List: Recorded tracks. For each track: use as route (calculates a route from your position through the points of the track), show on map, rename, shorten (creates a copy without the first or last kilometres; the original does not change), share, delete.
Tracks are standard GPX files: Strava, Komoot, OsmAnd, Organic Maps and almost all hiking apps can read them.
14. Sharing and importing
Sharing
On routes and tracks, Share asks what to send:
- Text – name, kilometres and duration; destination with full address and written coordinates; link to Google Maps (routes) or OpenStreetMap (tracks). Anyone can understand it, even without our app.
- GPX file – for whoever wants to open it in another navigation app. It contains the route and the destination with name and address.
Many messaging apps discard the text when there is an attached file: that is why you choose one thing at a time. To send both, share twice.
The address is obtained offline from the search; if there is none near the point, the coordinates are still there.
Importing
When you receive a GPX file (in a chat, by email...), tap it and choose IDQ Biker Maps. A track goes to Recorded tracks; a route opens as a route with the start from your GPS.
15. Offline maps and updates
What is in the catalogue
The catalogue has Whole Italy, in three files: map, routes and address search.
Downloading and deleting
Menu › Offline maps › Manage maps. The download runs in the background with a notification (and a Cancel button), continues with the screen off, resumes by itself after a network drop and checks that the files are intact. If you use mobile data and the package is over 200 MB, the app offers to wait for Wi-Fi: the download starts by itself as soon as there is a Wi-Fi network. Before downloading it checks the free space (updates need double, because the old file stays until the new one is verified). If the phone restarts during the download, it resumes by itself.
Updates
The maps are updated every month. When opened, the app checks whether there are new ones and notifies you (also with a notification). The Update button downloads only what has changed.
Menu › Offline maps › Update automatically: if on, the phone downloads updates by itself, but only on Wi-Fi and while charging, without using your data.
16. Settings
- Voice guidance – on/off.
- Language and voice – choose Italian, English, French, German or Spanish. They change the app text, the turn directions, the alerts and the voice. Then choose a female or male voice: tap a name to hear a sample. The app restarts by itself with the new language. The language is also chosen the very first time you open the app.
- Smartwatch alerts – off by default. If on, during navigation the app sends short notifications about 300 and 50 metres before each turn (e.g. "In 300 m: Turn right onto Via Dante"), meant for connected watches (Galaxy Watch, Wear OS, Xiaomi and others that forward notifications), which show them and vibrate on your wrist. On the phone the notification has no sound and no pop-up (only a brief vibration, which is what wakes and vibrates the watch) and disappears by itself: Android does not allow sending a notification only to the watch. In the Galaxy Wearable app check that IDQ Biker Maps is enabled among the apps that send notifications. The fixed navigation notification always shows manoeuvre, distance and street name. Watch app: on Galaxy Watch and other Wear OS watches you can install IDQ Biker Maps: if it is installed, the directions (big arrow, distance, street, time and km remaining) go straight to it, with different vibrations (two short for right, three for left, one long for arrival or off route) at about 300 and 50 metres, and no duplicate notification reaches the phone. The watch also has the Voice ON/OFF and End navigation buttons. If the phone stops sending data, the watch says so ("No signal from phone").
- Appearance – automatic (dark between sunset and sunrise where you are), always day, always night.
- About – the introductory tutorial (it opens by itself the first time after installation, and you can watch it again whenever you like), this guide and About and licences (version, developer, licences, privacy policy).
17. Data and privacy
- With downloaded maps your position is not sent to anyone. With the online services (routes, search, map, fuel stations) the app sends our server only what is needed to answer: start and destination points or the searched text. There is no account and the server does not store these requests or link them to you.
- When you report something, only this is sent: type of report, the point and the time. Your IP address and your name are not stored: only an anonymous code that changes every month, used to count how many different people confirm the same thing.
- While navigating by motorcycle, about every 90 seconds the app asks the service for reports near you (internet needed).
- Tracks and routes stay in the app's memory, on your phone. If you share them, you decide with whom.
- The app has no advertising and requires no account.
18. Common problems
| Problem | What to do |
|---|---|
| "GPS position not available yet" | Go outdoors and wait a few seconds; check that the phone's location is on. |
| The map is empty or grey | Download the maps (section 15). If you already have, reopen the app. |
| The route is not found | The destination must be inside the area of the downloaded maps. Try "Whole Italy". |
| No voice | Check in Settings that the voice is on and the volume is up; install the Google text-to-speech voice for your language. |
| Navigation stops with the screen off | Grant "Always" location and remove the app from the phone's battery saving. |
| I do not see mobile checks or accidents | Internet and at least one recent report near you are needed. Also check that the type is on in Map alerts. |
| The speed limit is missing or dashed | The data is not on OpenStreetMap: the dashes indicate a presumed limit. |
| The download does not start | Check the connection and the free space: several GB are needed. |
If the problem remains, write to info.idq.26@gmail.com saying what you were doing and the app version (Menu › About).
19. Online services, place search and 2D/3D
With internet
Without downloading anything, when you are online the app uses our server: the map, address search, route calculation (with speed limits, alerts and closed roads already included) and rerouting when you leave the route. If there is no network or the server does not answer, the app switches by itself to the offline maps you downloaded, if you have them.
Search for services and shops
Type what you are looking for in the search bar: diesel station, petrol station, charging point, restaurant, pizzeria, bar, pharmacy, hospital, parking, ATM, supermarket, hotel, campsite... The nearest ones appear; if you already have a route, the ones along the route. For fuel stations you see the updated price (Italian Ministry open data, self-service and served) of the chosen fuel. Every result shows its distance from your position, in metres or kilometres.
2D or 3D map
In Menu › Settings turn 3D map (tilted) on or off: in 3D the map is tilted and buildings are raised; in 2D it is flat. Your choice is saved.
While navigating
The car stays still at the centre of the screen and the map moves; the route is green. Voice guidance is turned on and off in Menu › Settings › Voice guidance: when it is off you only hear beeps.
20. Credits
- Map data: © OpenStreetMap contributors (ODbL licence).
- Map rendering: MapLibre Native.
- Route calculation: Valhalla.
- Fonts: Noto Sans.
- Development: IDQ Developer.
IDQ Biker Maps shows the way but does not replace caution: always follow the Highway Code and road signs, and do not use the phone while driving.
21. SOS in case of a fall and the Help button
The SOS is off by default. Turn it on from Menu › Settings › SOS in case of a fall: enter your name and number, 1 to 3 numbers to alert (typed or picked from your contacts), the sensitivity and the message language. The permission to send SMS is asked only at that moment.
How it works
It works only while you navigate or record a track, even with the screen off, and only with motorcycles and bikes (with car, truck and on foot it stays off). It triggers when three things happen together: GPS speed was above about 25 km/h, there is a strong impact, then the phone stays still with speed close to zero for a few seconds.
A full-screen alarm appears (even on a locked phone) with a loud sound, vibration and a 30-second countdown. Tap I'M OK to cancel; Call 112 opens the phone with the number already typed. If nobody answers, the app sends an SMS to the chosen numbers with the time, the position (map link and coordinates) and the request to call 112. Without signal it retries by itself until the signal is back. With Test SOS you send an SMS saying TEST to check everything works.
Help button
While navigating, the red Help button (and Menu › Ask for help (SMS)) lets you ask for help by hand: write your own message, choose the numbers (the SOS ones or another, also from contacts) and the app adds your position and your number.
22. Range and refuelling
From Menu › Settings › Range and refuelling enter how many kilometres you do on a full tank and how many kilometres of reserve you want to keep. The app counts the kilometres since the last fill-up (while you navigate or record a track). When you refuel, tap Menu › I have filled up to reset the count.
If the fuel that is left will not get you to the destination, the app warns you by voice and on screen when it is worth stopping, and tells you which fuel station on the route is the last useful one and how far it is. It needs the list of fuel stations (download it from Menu › Search nearby; then it works offline too).
23. Viewpoints and mountain passes
From Menu › Search nearby you also find Viewpoints and Mountain passes (OpenStreetMap data, only those with a name). They are sorted by distance from you and, for passes, the altitude is shown. Tap a result to see it on the map and go there.
As for fuel stations, the list of points is needed (it is downloaded once, then it works offline and updates itself).
24. Ride statistics
From Menu › Routes and tracks › Recorded tracks, tap a track and choose Ride statistics: distance, total and moving time, average and top speed, ascent and descent, lowest and highest altitude, number of bends (and hairpins) and maximum lean angle.
25. Riding features: choose the ones you need
From Menu › Settings › Riding features you can turn each feature on or off: range alerts, viewpoints and passes, ride statistics, SOS. Everyone customizes the navigator with what they care about; new features will appear in this list.
26. Rain and thunderstorms on the route
While you navigate, the app checks the weather ahead of you and warns you, by voice and on screen, if rain or a thunderstorm is coming. In the first 80 km it uses the Civil Protection rain radar (updated every 5 minutes, it sees the rain that is there now); further on it uses the MET Norway forecasts for the time you will pass there. The alerts say how many kilometres or minutes away the rain is and, for the radar, whether it is light, moderate or heavy.
Turn it on or off from Menu › Settings › Riding features › Rain and thunderstorm alerts. It needs internet: without a network there are no alerts.
27. Wind, cold, heat, clothing and closed passes
Besides rain (section 26) the app checks the weather for the next 3 hours along the route and warns you about: strong wind (from about 35 km/h; above 50 km/h the message says it is dangerous on a motorcycle), cold and ice risk (on passes the temperature is calculated at the altitude of the pass) and extreme heat (35 °C or more). At the start of the ride it also gives you clothing advice according to the expected temperature and rain.
The closed pass alert tells you if a pass on your route appears closed (or closed in winter, from November to April) according to OpenStreetMap, or if another user reported a closed road nearby. It needs the points-of-interest list (download it from Menu › Search nearby).
Each alert can be turned on or off separately from Menu › Settings › Riding features.
28. Little things in the saddle
Everything can be turned on or off from Menu › Settings › Riding features.
- Dangerous bends: if you approach a tight bend too fast (within 350 m) the app warns you with the recommended speed. It is an estimate calculated from the shape of the road (bend radius); it does not consider surface, tyres or rain: the decision is yours.
- Recommended break: after a set riding time (60, 90, 120, 150 or 180 minutes, your choice) it reminds you to stop. A 10-minute stop resets the count.
- Sunset: at 60, 30 and 10 minutes before sunset, if you are still riding, it warns you that it will soon be dark.
- Phone battery and heat: an alert when the battery is below 15% (and not charging) or when the phone gets too hot.
- Voice level: Turns only, Turns and hazards or Everything. The on-screen messages always stay.
- Dark screen when not needed (off by default): while navigating the screen dims to the minimum and lights up near turns, when the app warns you or when you touch it. It saves battery.
- Touch lock in the rain: the padlock button, while navigating, locks the screen: only Help, Report and End stay active. To unlock, press and hold the screen for a second.
- Where you left the motorcycle: at the end of a ride (navigating with the GPS) or after a 10-minute stop the app marks the spot. To find it again: Menu › Take me back to the bike (distance and walking directions). The spot is also in Saved places as "My motorcycle".
29. Garage and refuelling
In Menu › Settings › Garage and refuelling you can enter several motorcycles (name, tank, range, odometer kilometres). The app counts the kilometres of the bike in use (marked ★) and uses them for the range in section 22.
- Tap Add a motorcycle and fill in the fields.
- After each fill-up tap Menu › I filled the tank or Record a refuel: enter litres and cost. With at least two full tanks the app works out real consumption and cost per kilometre.
- In Maintenance deadlines add service, chain, tyres... with an interval in km: at the start of a ride the app warns you when fewer than 300 km remain.
With an active route, Menu › Cheapest petrol station lists the stations along the way sorted by price and detour (Ministry prices): tap one to add it as a stop. The detour is an estimate. All data stays on your phone; the reminder can be switched off in Riding features.
30. Safety: black box, follow my trip, missed arrival
Three more features, switchable in Menu › Settings › Riding features.
- Black box (off by default): records the last 30 minutes of the ride (position and speed) on the phone. In Menu › Black box you see top speed and hardest braking and can export the track as GPX. It goes to no server.
- Follow my trip: while navigating tap Menu › Follow my trip, pick the duration (2, 6, 12 or 24 hours) and send the link to anyone (WhatsApp, SMS...). The receiver sees your position on a map, with nothing to install and no account. The link closes by itself when it expires, when you end navigation or with Stop sharing the trip; the server deletes the position. Needs internet.
- Missed-arrival alarm (off by default): if you do not arrive by the expected time plus the tolerance (15, 30, 60 or 90 minutes, your choice), the app sends an SMS to the numbers set in Menu › Settings › SOS with the last position and, if active, the trip link. Needs the SMS permission and the phone switched on. If you end navigation yourself, the alarm is cancelled.
31. Routes for riders
In Menu › Route you will find:
- Adventure mode (unpaved): the route prefers unpaved roads and small lanes and avoids motorways (where possible). Turn it off to go back to normal routes.
- Profile and hairpins: counts the curves and hairpins of the route and draws the elevation profile with climb, descent, lowest and highest point and steepest gradient. Elevations come from our server (NASA SRTM data): they are estimates and need internet.
- Multi-day trip (where to sleep): choose how many km a day you want (200, 300, 400 or 500); at the end of each day it suggests nearby hotels, B&Bs, hostels and campsites (bike-friendly ones first) and your choice becomes a stop. You first need the points-of-interest list (Menu › Search nearby).
In Search nearby you also find Motorcycle workshops and shops, Motorcycle parking and Where to sleep: this is OpenStreetMap data, so it can be missing or old.
From the Report menu you can warn other riders about oil (valid 6 hours), gravel or sand (6 hours), ice (8 hours) and dense fog (3 hours). You can turn them off in Menu › Alerts on the map.
32. Rides together, helmet and memories
Group ride (Menu › Group ride): create a group, choose how long it lasts (6, 12 or 24 hours) and invite the others with a QR (scanned with the camera) or a link to send on WhatsApp or SMS. Whoever taps the link opens IDQ Biker Maps and joins (no account: the others see their name, the one written in Settings › SOS). While you navigate you see each other on the map and I warn you if someone is more than 3 km from you. Those without the app see the group on a web page. The group is deleted when it expires and you can leave whenever you want.
Helmet controls: the Bluetooth intercom buttons work like this: play/pause repeats the last instruction, next tells you how far is left, previous turns the voice on or off. Note: it is Android that decides which app receives the intercom buttons, usually the last one that played audio. If you start a music player, the buttons control that; the navigation commands come back when the IDQ Biker Maps voice is the last to speak, for example at the start of the ride. Audio check: at the start of the ride I tell you if a Bluetooth helmet is connected and if the volume is low.
Rally-style pace notes (off by default): before each bend the voice says "Right 3, 120 meters" (1 = tightest to 6 = wide) or "Hairpin left". It is an estimate from the shape of the road.
Memories: from the recorded tracks, in Ride statistics tap Share the summary for an image with the track and the numbers. With Menu › Routes and tracks › My roads you see on the map all the roads you have already ridden.
33. Where do I ride today? Rides, bends and scenic route
These commands use our own server (internet needed) with OpenStreetMap data on twisty roads, for Italy only.
- Menu › Where do I ride today?: choose how long you want to ride (1 to 6 hours), what roads you prefer (normal, twisty or very twisty) and, if you like, adventure mode. It suggests up to 4 loop rides from where you are, twistiest first, with kilometres, estimated time and a verdict (fast, flowing, twisty, very twisty). Pick one and the calculation starts: then you navigate it like any route, with directions, limits and alerts.
- Menu › Route › Scenic route (with a destination chosen): sends the route along twisty roads instead of the fastest ones. To go back choose "Back to the normal route".
- Menu › Bend map: colours twisty roads on the map (yellow), very twisty (orange) and hairpin switchbacks (red). It appears from a medium zoom up, on the area you are looking at.
These are estimates from the shape of roads in OpenStreetMap: always check real conditions and respect the limits. You can switch everything off in Riding features.
34. Free trial and unlocking
IDQ Biker Maps is free to download and at first launch gives you the full version free for 15 days: every feature, no limits.
\n- Unlock right away: you do not have to wait the 15 days. Tap Unlock now in the first message, or Menu › Information › Free trial: it is a single purchase on Google Play, no subscription and no ads. The remaining trial days are no longer needed.
- When the trial ends: the unlock screen opens. Routes, tracks, places, garage and settings stay on the phone and are there as soon as you unlock.
- I already bought the app: if you have already paid (you reinstalled the app, changed phone or cleared the data) tap this button: the app asks Google Play whether your account already has the unlock and, if so, unlocks without paying again.
- Uninstalling and reinstalling does not reset the trial. Our server remembers the first-launch date with an anonymous code of the phone (not your name, number or position): if you reinstall, the trial continues from where it was.
You get a reminder when 7, 3 and 1 days are left. Details on the data are in the privacy policy.
Guide d'IDQ Biker Maps
Avec l'appui long
- Karten herunterladen (empfohlen): Menü › Offline-Karten › Karten verwalten.
7. Navigieren
Start, Beenden
- ▶ Start: echte Navigation mit dem GPS.
- Beenden: beendet die Navigation.
Was Sie beim Navigieren sehen
18. Häufige Probleme
| Problem | Was tun |
|---|---|
20. Danksagungen
- Kartendaten: © OpenStreetMap contributors (ODbL-Lizenz).
- Kartendarstellung: MapLibre Native.
- Routenberechnung: Valhalla.
- Schriften: Noto Sans.
- Entwicklung: IDQ Developer.
24. Fahrtstatistik
Unter Menü › Routen und Tracks › Aufgezeichnete Tracks tippen Sie auf einen Track und wählen Fahrtstatistik: Strecke, Gesamt- und Fahrzeit, Durchschnitts- und Höchstgeschwindigkeit, Auf- und Abstieg, niedrigste und höchste Höhe, Anzahl der Kurven (und Kehren) und maximale Schräglage.
25. Funktionen unterwegs: wählen Sie, was Sie brauchen
6. Opciones de ruta
Opciones
Menú › Ruta: Evitar peajes, Evitar autopistas, Evitar transbordadores.
| Pasos a nivel | OpenStreetMap |
| Accidentes (2 horas), tráfico (1 hora), carreteras cortadas (12 horas), peligros (4 horas) | Otros usuarios, hace falta internet |
14. Compartir e importar
Compartir
En rutas y tracks, Compartir pregunta qué enviar:
- Texto – nombre, kilómetros y duración; destino con dirección completa y coordenadas escritas; enlace a Google Maps (rutas) o a OpenStreetMap (tracks).
